The COVID-19 pandemic caused income struggles for many residents across New Mexico. If your rental income has fallen because of a tenant's inability to pay rent, the New Mexico Home Fund is here for you. You can participate in the program through two methods:

The COVID-19 pandemic caused many residents to fall behind on their utility bills. The New Mexico Home Fund helps renters and homeowners pay for their utilities. That way their utilities stay on, and you get paid.

If You Manage Under 20 Rental Units:

If You Manage Under 20 Rental Units:

Our priority is to pay landlords and property managers directly. That way your tenants can stay housed and you get paid.

If you manage under 20 rental units, your tenants will have to send us the documents we need to start their application.

You can encourage them to start their application at NMHomeFund.org/renters.

If they qualify for support, we will send payments to landlords directly. In order to be paid, you will need to provide necessary documentation including a W-9.

If You Manage Over 20 Rental Units:

If You Manage Over 20 Rental Units:

Landlords and property managers with at least 20 units can participate in bulk payments. This makes it easier for us to pay you in one bulk payment that pays for multiple units.

To apply for the bulk payments, you’ll need to send us:

  • Tax statement to verify ownership or contract with the owner to verify property management agreement
  • List of addresses to rental units
  • NM Substitute W-9 (upon request)
Send Documents
We’ll then follow up with you with additional information and documentation to begin the bulk payment process.
